I've had 3, sold my last one last year. Way too much of a P.I.T.A. to ever get one again. My last was a Kawasaki St900 3 person. Very nice boat. The 2 before that both blew the motorrs, cracked the impellers, etc. MOre wrenching than riding....

Rode two 96 SL780's last but when NYS said you had to take a safety course and the kids came along we went to our first small boat. At the time, those 780's were awesome little two seaters, digital guages, power trim, etc. We absolutely loved them but had just as much fun with the boat too... actually, we are looking for a boat again, we went this summer without one and it sucked!

Yea I've got a 2005 Sea-doo RXP and an 03 Yamaha GP1300R with RIVA intake grate and high performnce water pump. There awesome. If you live by water it pays to get one.

i have a waveraider 700. fine for 1 person, hole shot somewhat sucks. Meant for top end speed for the year - so ride feels sloppy.

I agree on the maintinence. but mostly its from friends and family riding it improperly. took it out 5 times, its been crashed into docks about 6 times, a pontoon 1x, weeds through impeller several, flipped 1x, handles ripped off 3x (more of an age thing), choke pulled off 1x (and now lost, interesting starting without a choke), and the front cracked, back left cracked.

thank god i just got a 96. i wouldve shot myself if i dropped 10 on a new like i was planning.

RXP's... they are sweet. New ones for 07 are butt ugly though. I have a slightly modded 06 Gold and a stock 06 viper red, also have a 05 GTX Limited for more of a chill ride. PWC's are awesome, like snowmobiling, but if you fall, you don't get too hurt...lol

I've been riding pwc since 1992. I've probably owned a total of 8 to this point. I raced sitdowns a few years ago but gave that up last year. Since then I've switched to standup watercraft. These are incredibly more difficult to learn and master. Currently I own a 2005 Kawasaki 800 SXR and a 1990 Yamaha superjet (which my daughter is learning).

If you are serious about riding pwc I urge you to think about what you would like to do with it.

For example:
For touring on relatively flat water or towing you would probably want a 3 person craft.

If you are younger, ride by yourself and ride hard you might want to look into a older 2 person sport or old musclecraft.

If you are really looking for a challenge look into a standup.

Where you ride is important to (I live on the shore of Lake Michigan). Small, flat lakes get a little boring after a while on the big machines (3 seater couches). Small machines are a riot on the oceans or big lakes that get a lot of waves). Standups provide challenges everywhere.

Manufacturers that I've purchased are yamahas and kawasakis. Sea-doos, yamahas, kawasakis, hondas are all pretty good these days. They really have to be for the prices.

Just my 2 cents worth of advice.

Current skis
1996 Yamaha SuperJet (Standup)
2002 Polaris Octane (Standup)
1988 Kawi 650sx (Standup)
Sold skis
1993 Kawi 550sx (Standup)
1992 Kawi 750sx (Standup)

I compete in Freestyle events and do water shows here in the southeast. I love it. I recieved 3rd at the 2007 US AM National Freestyle Championship which is a big accomplishment for me. I recomend that anyone that hasn't tried to ride a stand up, should give it a try at least once!
