1980 Polaris Hood

Is there supposed to be a grill or something in the hood to protect the carbs on my old sled?

There are no holes or marks where one used to be.

Nope, no grille. Go on Yahoo and do an IMAGE search on "Polaris TX". It brought up a bunch, none of them had grilles.

Thanks all for the help. I too just did a search on google and the pictures all show an open hood. The big opening in the front dosen't bother me much, but the one on the top is wright over the carbs. Would it make any sense to cover that one to keep out the snow and crud, or does it need to be open for air intake?
