` 80 340txl indy

any one have an idea what a 1980 340 indy txl should run at with a AAEN PERFORMANCE stage 3 400CC big bore kit?
It runs strong from off idle to 50mph, once it is moving the tach stays right at 8500-8700 but as it hits 50-55 mph it drops off to about 7500 rpm and just sounds flat. it has 2 into 1 exhust and 2 38mm carbs. thanks

ok that sounds good , but this was done in 11/ 28/85. i dont know what the 340 setting was . it sat for about 6 years befor i picked it up last year. i rebuilt the rear susp, frt.susp added plastic skies, and all bearings and went throuth the carbs. so i know that there is no bad parts slowing it down.should i go with what my 600 xlt is using in the carbs? both motors are 200cc per cylinder? does it make sence or am i nuts.??

since you have a performance setup, you should refer to the carb manufacturer website for info. or ask SEG. Also there may be some info from the kit manufacturer site or in their setup literature that came with the kit.

You will most likely end up raising the needle and installing a larger jet.
