1973 Silver Bullet

Hey guys, need some help. I haven't been in the snowmoblie world for awhile. We had them when I was younger, but then we got out of it, I still have 2 older ones but I dont keep up with the times anymore. My great-aunt owns a 1973 Silver Bullet. She is in the process of moving into a condo and has no room for it. She asked me to help her sell it, so I figured I would check in here to see if this sled was still one that collectors looked for. I know they popped pistons alot, but this one was babied its whole life. She is the orginal owner, (she was prob. 40 when she bought it)and she told me here son restored it in the late 80's early 90's. (She said new pistons and gaskets, and PAINT...at least its still the same silver its suppose to be) However since then it was covered and stored under and overhang, the back was lifted off the ground and the track looks strong. Hood and seat are clean and unbroken, but other than that I didn't get a chance to look under the hood. Honestly I would like to take it off of her, and put it with my Intruder and Exciter, but she seems to think it is worth alot of money, so I told her I would check with people who knew. I saw one on ebay last week that didn't sell for 500 so I doubt they are worth a whole lot. Any info on this sled would be a great help.

They were a high demand "race mod" sled back in the day, but have gone down in value slightly, especially if it has been "painted". If it was bone stock original it can bring a couple thousand bucks.

Hey thanks for the info.

Would this be a sled I should hold on to? should I offer her a couple hundred bucks for it, or is it just not worth the effort? I know its not a blizzard or an invader but Its a cool looking little sled but honestly if i would pick it up I wouldn't ride it much, it would be more of a restore project, then just add to the other 2 I own. Are the parts expensive because they were a special edition sled or are they pretty easy to find?

silver bullet

Where are you located or are you willing to part the sled out? I have a scrap dealer in CANADA checking with a used parts dealer near Toronto. My hubby ran his sled 5 years ago up our pole barn pole ( the throttle stuck). Luckily, neither my grandson or he were on it. Need the front pan and frame assembly (it is all one piece). An olympic is the same frame assembly. Thanks, Sandi

No sorry I dont think she wants to part it out, if it doesn't sell I think she'll just give it to her son. The engine is a 340 by the way, she just got back to me.

grab it, it's too nice shape to let someone get a hold of who will destroy it.
great classic sled and a good investment.,

My boyfriend and I just completely restored a Silver Bullet. I'm telling you if you decide to keep it and restore it, you won't regret it! A great looking sled when done. Parts a a little hard to find though, otherwise its a great sled, can't wait till snow to drive it.
