Exclamation New here and need ALOT of help

Okay guys I just purchased a 76 (I think) el tigre for a guy that said it ran, well we unloaded it and took a good 15 minutes of pulling and eventually some starting fluid to get it started and it ran okay wouldn't idle and would just die and didn't feel like it was going all out, now I can't get it to start at all. I replaced the spark plugs and dropped the carb bowel and cleaned all inside there, then I pulled the fuel pump (I think) apart and took some break clean to it could I possibly not have put the pump in the right way? Also right before it stopped running it started to sound more like a 4 stroke and wouldn't go over like 15 max

If you are not too far from me, I might be able to help you out directly.

Go to the Tech section and look at the how to sticky.
There are carb cleaning tutorials and other useful information there.

I'm in Watkins glen, not to far away do you have any idea what way the fuel pump is supposed to face? I think I might have put it in the wrong way

There are arrows on the top that show which direction the flow would be.

If you are available during the day, I could swing over that way during the week.
