Everest 500 threw a tension wheel... Any ideas?

Well, long story short: At some point on my trail ride yesterday evening, my sled threw off the left tension wheel. The bearing is nice and free with no side play, and the snap ring that hold the bearing in the wheel is hanging on the shaft behind the bearing. All guide clips are in place, so other than the possibility that it was "just plain old" and broke, is there anything I should check?

As a side note I went back this morning and walked the last mile that I rode last night and didn't find it... so, it seems you can hobble it home on just one tension wheel!

Thanks,
Nick

Yup, sounds like it just gave up the ghost.
