1977 John Deere 300 Clutch stuck

In my excitement after installing new crank seals I ran it with out the drive belt and now the primary clutch is stuck closed. How the heck do I get it back?

First off, your lucky that's all that happened.

You will have to open the clutch up to get it to release.
The fly weights are likely over extended and jambed.

You should be able to see the pivot points in there, they most likely overextended, and can be reset using a prying device (lightly!).

That will have a Salsbury primary [if still original].
To open it up, remove the center bolt and the bell cover will want to come off.
Then you can see what is causing the binding.
