80 scorpion tk 340 rngines which 1 is right?

HI FOLKS, I'VE GOT TWO 80 TKs ,,,,THEY ARE 340S.... THEY ARE ABOUT 40 NUMBERS APART...ONE SLED HAS 4 BOLT NONHEMISPERICAL HEADS..AND A MIKUNII BUTTERFLY CARB......THE OTHER HAS 6 BOLT HEMISPHERICAL HEADS AND A WALBRO WF CARB....ONE SLED HAS ABOUT 1700 MILES AND THE OTHER ABOUT 1200 BOTH START AND RUN WELL.....BEFORE YOU COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT ONE OR BOTH ARE MODIFIED ALTHOUGH YOU NEVR KNOW WITH SLEDS..... BUT THE ONE WITH THE WALBRO AND HEMI HEADS WAS PURCHACED FROM THE ORIGIONAL OWNER..AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THE SLED WITH THE MIKUNI HASN'T BEEN MODIFIED EITHER.......ALSO BOTH SLEDS HAVE DIFFERENTLY DESIGNED AIRBOX DESIGN AND MOUNTING ASSEMBLY....THANKS

From what I can remember, they are both correct. The 6 bolt hemi head was a performance option over the regular 4 bolt head. The carbs sound correct for each model.

Actually, Scorpion was purchased by Arctic Enterprises in 1978 and by 79-80, the production of snowmobiles was consolidated at Arctic Cat's Thief River Falls Plant. As for the production run, I'm sure most of their 1980 models were produced with in a specific time frame. The Scorpion name died when Arctic Enterprises declared bankruptcy in 1981.

Not a clue. All I know is that it was listed as an option.

The info I have show the regular 340 had 24hp @ 6000rpm. The hemi head 32hp @ 6500 rpm. Those are the only performance specs I have.
