72 Chaparral Firebird SS 400

Well, I am in the process of trying to restore a 72 Firebird SS and while I have enough spare engine parts (I have 2 400 Fuji engines that came with it) I am wondering if anyone knows where to get a gasket set for one so I can actually take it apart, or am I just going to have to use RTV Ultra Black? Also any other info on where to get any parts I may possibly need would be greatly appreciated

Fuji engines were used in Polaris sleds, so you should be able to find what you need, no problem.

I did see that older polaris' used Fuji engines, I thought they only used a 440, and 340 and so forth. I havent seen a 400 twin before and not sure if it shares any similarities between a 440.

If my memory is correct, some of the early 70's Polaris Charger and Mustang models used the 400.

Poo used a Fuji 400 {399} F/A and 400 {397} fan engines in a lot of the early 70's and 80's sleds along with 340 and 440 and 500 {488} fans.
So, you should have no problem finding a gasket set that you can use.
Just contact a Poo dealer or use the engine ID# and look it up at one of the online retailers.
You could also find a set through any small engine place the carries Parts Unlimited.

Hmm I'll try, but the engine ID on the tunnel of my Chaparral says its a 394cc? dont think it'll be that much of a difference but this thing is turning out to be more of a problem to find parts for than just taking it apart haha

The engine ID # would be G40BSS. Badged as a Chaparral Engine but made by Fuji Heavy Industries.

Here's a link to a parts manual for the Chaparral Engines. It has both the Chaparral part # and the Fuji part # in it. Hopefully this may help you.

The Xenoah G40B is also basically the same engine. So parts listed for it also should work.
