Question '71 TNT Track Removal?

I'm working on restoring a '71 TNT chassis over the summer but have run into a problem when trying to remove the drive axle and track. I have looked up a manual and read this.. " 5. Tip snowmobile on its side and remove 3
capscrews securing end bearing housing, it may be necessary to pry housing from frame with 2 large screwdrivers." The only problem is the housing seems to be welded to the shaft and I can't pull it through. I already removed the chaincase and have the shaft out of that end. Am I doing something wrong?

You are right on track. The shaft should come out of that bearing cup.

The shaft that's welded to the bearing cup I believe is the spedometer shaft. The bearing and shaft are inside that cup. May be a bummer but it should come off the shaft.
