Poor running 1977 El tigre

My 1977 El tigre has a sprint 500 motor. It has 120lbs in each cylinder. If I cover the mag side carb with my hand there's no change in performance. If I cover the clutch side carb she stalls. The weird part is if I spray ether in the mag side carb she'll start. If i spray ether in that carb there's no change in performance. Is there any way of checking the CDI and coil without a CDI tester. Its seems like the spark on that cylinder dies when running.

New plugs?
Use an inline spark detector to see if that plug is even firing.
Check the wire end caps to be sure that there is connection from the cable to the cap.

I connected an inline spark tester to each plug wire, both cylinders appear to have same spark in both the pull start mode and run mode. The plugs are old.

Start with new plugs and then see what happens.

I'm getting there, she's running better. Can't get it to idle under 2500 rpm and got a bit of stumble on exel. Running it with no airbox. Waiting for airbox, found one on Ebay.
