'72 440 Puma Exhaust Leaks

I have a '72 440 Puma Engine (Kawasaki Motor) and have a terrible exhaust leak where the muffler attaches to the header. Its is held on with a wire clamp thingy. I am surprised that there is no o-ring or anything like that that provides a seal. Just metal to metal?

Anyways any idea how to get a good seal? Exhaust tape?

Not supposed to be very tight, it's a flex point.
Loosen the clamp and move the muffler part over to make the joint tighter.
After it warms up, it will seal better too.
