1974 ski doo everest tnt

Hello all forum goers i just picked up a 74 skii doo everest tnt for 25 dollars at a auction. the hoods beat on it but the motor and engine bay as very clean has 1700 miles on it. im just wondering how are these old sleds? just had the carb rebuilt and a new belt all it needs is spark and i am planin on taking the flywheel off and cleaning the points and stuff up.

I had a 75, the thing ran great! Suspension was a little rough on the back, though.

I had a '76, the 16 1/2" track makes them very stable, the seat is nice for 2 people. The 440 is supposed to be the better engine (I had a 340). The points on mine were my bane, I never did get them adjusted right. Sure hope you have better luck!

The hoods are almost always cracked if not broken to pieces, Ski-Doo was one of the first if not the first that went to plastic hoods. I had some plastic repair stuff that was pretty good, made in Canada, I can't remember the name. I got it it at the Auto Parts store. You can fix it pretty good with fiberglass too, just make your patch big and scuff the plastic real good before you glass. You won't make a show sled that way but a good rider can be fixed up. Maybe have 2 hoods, a perfect one for shows and a repaired one for riding. They swap out easy enough.

Lucky duck, my TNT was one of my favorite sleds until it croaked... The 340 was adequate I'd bet with the 440 its pretty fun. I keep thinking someday I'll get another and sneak a 440 liquid into it, that'd be a screamer.

Take a look at the ski shocks, on mine they were both bad and the ski tips would actually clip the bumper on big bumps. Good shocks should keep that from happening and give you a better ride.
Theres a limiting strap on the suspension (there was on the '76 anyway) that is usually set in the middle which keeps the suspension fairly low. I *think* you could set it so the suspension was at its highest point which would put more weight on the skis and make the sled easier to turn without hurting performance too bad but that'll be a test it and see kind of thing.

Have fun!

should do that it would really scream lol. ummm the shcoks in the front still seem good. the internet says that there are the straps on the suspension so im going to have to play with that idea when winter rolls around. wich now im anxious for snow again. just hoping the sled moves as well on snow as it did in my garage.
