'73 Merc 440 Max fix-up

Hello, new to the forum and new to snowmobiles but not most other motor sports.

Anyway I got a free 1973 Mercury 440 Max (CCV engine) to play with and wondering what to look for regarding maintenance issues. It seems to have had at least basic care over its years as it runs , has newish looking coils and belt. I thought I would start with plugs, clean out fuel system (old gas in there), change chain drive lubricant, degrease 30+ years of sludgy deposits, clean the torque converter, and check the wiring as some connections seem a little crackly.

What else should I be looking for on this engine/sled?

One thing I noticed is that Merc put warnings on these about using no-lead gas. How come? No valves to recess like on 4 cylinders. Obviously its probably been on no-lead quite awhile. I figured just use good quality syn oil like Amsoil?

Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Thanks
