Switching an old Polaris from CDI to magneto ignition

Has anyone ever done this? I'm thinking about switching my '74 Electra from a CDI ignition over to a standard magneto ignition. I have a newer 340 I could just drop in there, but the original motor is CDI and the 340 is magneto.

Can I just throw a standard motor in there, or is there going to be a difference in the wiring harnesses? Is one system "better" than the other?

Need to change over the wiring and all the components of the Mag system to make it work.
