Yeah maybe this weekend I'll tear apart the carb and make sure it's all OK inside or I might even buy a rebuild kit if I make it into town.

Ok. Sorry to bring this one back. However I'm new to the scorpion game. I recently bought a 77 whip 440 that has 539 miles on it. However It has been sitting with gas in it for 10+ years. I recently went through and replaced all the lines and hoses. and ran the feed line to the carb into a gas tank, and it will start and fire fine but as soon as you try to take it above 1500 rpm it bogs out and dies. I've had the carb apart and cleaned it thoroughly and put new plugs on it but it still does the same thing. So any help would be appreciated on what's going wrong and where to get parts. Im also going to be in the market for a set of ski's and decals for the sled.

Thanks,
Dan

I have the same sled. I got it to run once. Then it backfired out the air intake and will not start again. Any ideas? Also the carb is not filling with gas. It will run on starting fluid then when it burns off its done. The carb on it is not original, could you tell me what carb and the numbers are on this one? Id love a replacement. If I could fine one. Also any ideas on how to get it to run would be greatly appreciated.

Wahlbro HR carb most likely.
Needs to be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly as the diaphragm and gaskets have deteriorated and the jets are probably clogged with varnish.

I had it running one winter. I drove it around my yard and up and down my driveway then a large pop from the air intake partial melting the intake. I havent got it to run that good again.
