292 1972 Panther, upgrade?

I've got a 292 Panther that dates back to 1972. I went through the motor, the carb and what not, and could not get it running. So, I switched out motors, I put a 5.5 horse four stroke honda in it, and that thing holds steady at a solid 20 mph.....well that just isn't very fast is it? I want more so.....

I was just wondering, could that sled handle something a little bigger? I have an itch to build a new engine mount, and put in a 340 or a 440 kawasaki in it, probrably a 340 because that would fit under the hood.

Is this a bad idea, or am I just asking for trouble? Please, humor me.

It's been done many times. It'll handle it.

Just make sure that you get the mounting plate for that particular engine so that it just bolts in rather than having to fab a mount.
You will then also need to recalibrate the clutching for the engine,(primary and secondary) to get the best use of the increased hp.
