1987 skidoo formula mx

I just picked up a 1987 skidoo formula mx. I had a few questions dont know much and i've
never delt with liquid cooled. It is a 470 it has hand and thumb warmers but the hand warmers have bin cut. Where do they wire into?? Also the carbines on the skis if they are dead what does that exactly mean I am not sure and what do you have to do to fix that. Let me know thanks.

That's "carbides" on the skis.
Replace the wear bars.

The warmers were probably cut because the switch quit working and they overheated (most likely reason).

Replace the carbides, measure the amount of carbide on the bottom and match it on the new ones. Rule of thumb is if there are NO studs on the track, get 4" of carbide.

Okay thanks for the help. The warmers do look a bit rough. I was gonna get a new set and wire them in. Is the switch like a tolgo switch with a red wire comming off it. Im assumeing thats power and then it looks like the warms hook up to it?? Also a quick question is it bad or normal if the exaust has oil in it as its oil in injection I am not sure how they work. but theres enough in there to get your finger oily wondering if its fine. thanks.

Not a problem with the oil, it should go away if it's ridden longer distances.
