The first sled i ever rode was my dads 87 jag 440. Drove the hell out of that sled. He stills owns it. Im going to restoring it soon for him. The first sled i ever owned was a 98 zr 600 efi. Its got 6000 miles on it now. I rebuilt the whole sled minus motor. Dont think illl ever get a newer sled.

First sled was a 1972 Arctic Cat Lynx 292 and a 1973 Puma 440, given to me from mom & dad when they didn't ride them anymore.

my first sled was a 1977 Polaris Electra 340 wide track. That thing was a tank and was pretty quick too. Seat fliped up for lots of storage. Wish I still Had it

My first sled was a late '60s or early '70's Alouette with a Sachs 280 single. It was tippy, didn't handle and slow. I kept it one season.
Next was a '72 Suzuki SM10, again one season. Plenty of power, but rode and handled like absolute crap.
Then a few years later a '70 Ski Doo Olympic with the 320 single. It was a POS, but ran good and after minor overhauling was invincible. I took that sled EVERYWHERE, it was a champ on powder, breaking trails and on everything except rough.
Next was a '72 Arctic Cat Panther 292 (JLO, not Kawasaki). Had to change motor mounts and fix exhaust on that one, but it was in good overall shape and I put a lot of happy miles on it. My friends used to grumble about how slow it was, but it took me everywhere their sleds went...

'72 Olympique 399 twin fan cooled for $250. I had $100 and Dad had me work the rest off on the farm. I think it was Spring of '83 so I was 13. Rode it in the winter of '83-'84 then stripped it down and repainted the chassis, recovered the seat, put a new tank in it. Rode it the Winter of '84-'85, and '85-'86, but then got my license that summer so that was about it. It sat until the Spring of '90 and I sold it to a friend for $200. Borrowed a sled here and there but never my own. Now I'm 43 and just purchased a '91 Indy 500 Classic that is in very good shape for $500, so we'll see how it goes! I already have plans for restoring this one too!

My first sled was a beat up Skidoo Elan. It didn't look like much but I rode it everywhere. It was a single cylinder 250. Not very fast, but you couldn't kill that engine. The tunnel cracked and I parked it, but it still started right up for me when I sold it several years later, after it sat outside the whole time. Try that with the ethanol gas they sell now!

Hey 77zman funny you mentioned those two sleds, I had an 87 Jag that I gave to my sister. She still has it with only around 2300 miles on it I think. It's unrestored and still looks almost like new. I've also got a 98 ZR600 sitting on my trailer outside. It's a carb, not an efi though.
