A 1976 Arctic Cat panther 440. great sled ran everytime, started first or second pull everytime but i needed a sled that could keep up with the guys on the trails so i sold the poor thing to a vintage racer who fixed it up and has been winning several races with her, especially drags, over the past 3 years. it was nice but my 700 is a lot faster

Going to the way back machine...
Mine was a Ski Doo. Early 70's, 340cc. However I cannot remember what model. Black and yellow, and didn't steer worth a damn. It was still fun to drive though.

My first sled was a 1977 Polaris Colt 340 SS. I bought it for 100 bucks. It had fell off the back of a truck and smashed the hood..and my buddy had swamped it in a big slush hole and cooked the motor. Fixed the hood up, bought another motor for 200 hundred and ran it trouble free for 2 winters. It was a quick little thing for a 340. Very easy to drive and handle also. Now I have a 76 Arctic Cat Cheetah with a 521cc Ski-doo Formula Plus motor in it. Should be reaaaaallly quick lol

I guess it kind of dates me being that my first sled had a bogie wheel suspension and leafs on the front skis. Most people nowadays started off on early to mid 90s big 3 and have no idea what it was like to ride one of those old steel monsters. And try starting a high compression jlo. More like punch yourself in the face.

My 1st was a 70 skidoo tnt 340. I got it for a 100 with a johndeere jdx seat and a can of starting fluid. It was a beast. If you looked at it wrong it would tip over.

First sled was my folks 1970 Arctic Cat Panther with a 292 back in the late
70's early 80's. When I was a teen in the late 80's I saved up and bought a 1972 Arctic Cat Puma 440. That thing broke every time I rode it and after lots of new parts and hours of work, I actually abandoned it in the woods after I recleated the track and hit a stump and rebroke them. I never went back for it. Sleds have come a long way since then.

well...my dad when he first got into sleds he got an old excel 340 that was a pain in the rear to start lol i think i was about 8 when he got it, then he sold it and got a 95 mxz 583 and i always rode it around the field and the yard. 2 years later he traded that in for the forumula 3 700 triple and we spent a lot of time riding that then he finally let me ride it on my own...i think i was like 12...now today still a teenager i just bought an 81 excel 3 340 for 350 bucks as my first sled. nothing like following the footsteps of your father. lol sometimes good sometimes bad

My first sled was a 75 yamaha gs338. took me 15 years of hard riding to kill it. dad had a 77 olympic 340 (still have today) & bought the 338 for me(he figured it would be slower than his) the 338 ran 75 mph all day long.
I miss that old sled

My first sled was a ski doo olympic 340 ball sucker - got it when I was 12, I think it was a 71 but not sure. I rode that thing about a week & sold it to my neighbor & bought a 3 wheeler - I never got another snowmobile until I was 24 - I bought a 98 ext 600.
