polaris txl paint codes

does anyone out there have the paint codes for a 1980 or 1981 txl polaris? If you have a dupont or ppg code that would be great. thanks

Did you ask a dealer or vintage restorer?

If you have a chip or flake, you can have it matched.

but wouldn't a chip of paint from a 1980 sled be pretty faded and not the true colour?

pretty much, I tried to clay bar a section, but being more than likely enamel paint, it did not go so well.

A chip from under the seat or inside the hood area would not be faded.

do you have a VIN number? i called the dealer back home and he said if they have the VIN number they can call Polaris to find out the color.

one other thing, in his computer, the TXL didnt show up for 1980/81. He had a TX? can you double check on the model...and can you provide the CC for motor size, because he can search that way too.

no, your both wrong it is a txl, non indy, 1981, model number is, 0810639 serial # is 0702544 ccc is 333 manufacture date is 06/11/1980 making it a tx-l 340 non indy of 1981 model year. I also have a 1979 and an 80, the 80 and the 81 look to be the same color, while the 79 has more flake in it, its model number is 0790639 and serial is 0513710 and it manufacture date is 09/01/1978 making it a 1979. the 1981 was made in june, while most txl's I have seen were produced in september, making me think that it is really an 80, that never sold to dealers, so polaris rebadeged them as 1981's, which I am also told there are really very little of. If you can find out any information that would be awesome thanks.
