plug gap for 81 Citation?

Greetings!
I have NGK 8ES plugs, and a 1981 Skidoo Citation 4500 sled.
Here's my problem...
- NGK says to gap the plugs at .016
- dealer says gap the plugs at .020
- I've read posts saying gap them at .040

So, the magical question is.... whom is right here!! What should the proper gap be???
*** Thanks! ***

being yours is a single carb, how quick and fast is yours? Mines a dual carb, just curious what differences there are. I know the track length is for sure, to make the SS more "agile".

Isnt yours also oil injected AND electric start? Talk about luxury, cuz i dont have it.
