Question 76 motoski and bombardiar sleds.. help?

Allright I just got 2 new (to me) sleds that both need work. The first one is a 1976 Moto ski Nuvik 340, and the second is a Bombardiar sled with a 400 rotax engine implanted in it. First problem, both of them DO turn over as I tried last week or so when I went to look at them, and they both spun freely, but now after this snow we had, they seem to be frozen up. Is there any special technique that I can use to thaw them out? I dont have a garage to store them in either. Also The motoski needs a 340 carb, as it has a dirtbike carb of some sort on it right now. My friend sais it went about 40 or so with this setup, so its fine for now but I want to make it right again, anyone know where I can find one?? Secondly the bombardiar needs a carb rebuild kit because the diaphram went in the carb, and according to my friend it needs the diaphram to take gas from the tank (like a pump??) Where can I find a kit to rebuild this?? All help is appreciated, Thanks in advance..

Without seeing a picture, I'm going to guess you have a Tillotson carb on the 400. Dennis Kirk sells rebuild kits for them. The on-line catalog doesn't show everything my dead tree copy does, but you can call them. Here's the main page Dennis Kirk

As for thawing them out, lacking a garge, maybe heatlamps or an engine block heater? You might be able to put one of those little box electric heaters under the hood then cover the machine to keep the heat in.

The only time I ran into that situation I took the motor out of the sled and brought it into my shop and took it apart to get the water out.

Yeah I am a member of 3ww too but I felt as though I needed a better sled forum to ask my questions. I think I do have a tilly on it, Is there like a name inprinted on the carb. housing like on Minunis and keihns?? Also I was thinking about running a hairdryer to it for now.. Would that be effective?? Its gard to find parts for the 400 because I dont know what sled it came out of, all I know now is it will make this little sled scream.. Thanks for all the help, and if you have any more suggestions, Please do let me know.

The best way to tell a tillotson is there are a bunch of "plates" (fuel pump) stacked up on the bottom of the carb, where the Mikuni and Keihins have fuel bowls on the bottom and the fuel pump is elsewhere.

I looked at the carb and it says tillotson on it so I am assuming it is one. I got the 400 broken free but I think I need new dogbones for the recoil, or a new reciol alltogether because it slips..
I still havent gotten the motoski broken free, But saturday we are going to put a commercial heater infront of it to try and thaw it out, than get it running too.. Hopefully all goes as planned..

If it is frozen in there will WD-40 Melt whatever that is? Also do you just load it in there, or use it somewhat sparingly?

The Tag on the sled says 76 but the stock carb isnt on it, and one off of a dirtbike is.

WD40 won't do anything for frozen water. It's mostly kerosene.

If you're sure it's frozen water, why not try some fuel line antifreeze down the sparkplug holes? Get the stuff that's isopropyl alcohol. That should thaw it out.

I would hope there isn't water down there.....that would end up in rust......then it would take alot to free up.....I use wd-40 or pb blaster for engines where there is a slight amount of rust between the rings and cyclinders form only condensation over the years, that it won't turn loose......then I soak em down real good.....and break it free

The other day when it was kind of warm out I tried to pull it and it pulled over. I am going to try and get it running today for a little bit, clear the engine up...

Well I got the moto ski running on starting fluid. I only had one spark plug so I started it on one cylinder, than switched the plug to the other and started it. Seems to run okay, need gas and throttle cable to make it good though. Im gonna try and get the bombardiar started in a few minutes too. Hopefully all goes well.
I have a question about the Motoski though.. Theres a little metal box with three fuel line fittings on it, and I dont know how to hook it up, If anyone has any tips or a picture to show how its connected, Id be greatful for it. Thanks in advance

thats the fuel pump one in from the tank, one pulse line from the crankcase, and one to the carb. they should be marked on it.

No gas??

Allright I think i did it right, I put the "pulse" line in the middle "plug", there was an arrow pointing out [__->] And I put that line to the carb., and there was an arrow pointing in [->_]
and I put that one to the gas tank line. Now heres my problem, it doesnt seen to be getting any gas.. I put a gallon in the tank, but still nothing. Could a gallon be too little so the pickup line isnt getting to it? I pulled the line off of the little pulse box thing and blew into it and it seems to be bubbling (like a straw in a soda glass). Or is there maybe a clog somewhere or something?
Please help, thanks in advance.

Does it look like this ?

The one that sticks straight out is the pulse line, the arrow going in comes from the fuel tank and the arrow going out goes to the carb.

With the pulse and tank lines hooked up, you should be able to pull the starter rope and have gas squirt out the out arrow side.
