Engine Trouble

Hi, I am having engine trouble with my 73 panther 440. You know that sound the engine makes when you are testing the plugs? (you have the engine at high throttle, and then you cut the spark) Well, my sled is doing that while accelerating fast. It seems as though it is not getting fuel fast enough or somthing. Like it suddenly stops firing while going fast. I guess you could safely say the engine "fluctuates" at a high rpm. When this happens, you have to feather the throttle in order to get it going again. It never used to do this, and the problem just started today. I tried changing the plugs, but this didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
-Kyle

Starving for fuel. Rebuilt the fuel pump lately?

sounds like electrical breakdown, either it's bad points or the condencer is getting ready to quit.
