tilly carb adj. sneedles

On the motoski 440 tilly carb. when I adjust the airflow needles "in"(clockwise) it gets richer????right.....an I thinking right that they are air flow needles ......less air more fuel= richer.......or am I backwards???
I drove it for an hour today....it ran good (onec or twice it "poped" or back fired.....indicating lean)....I kept checking the plugs and adjusting the high speed needle(biger one)....they look good, they are light brown.....a real light light brown.....but not white......I just want to faten the carb up a little bit to a golden brown......which way to screw to go richer?????
also the shroud over the engine is gone......should I fabricate one up....is it "real" nessary????........

The one on the top is high speed- out for richer.

The one on the side is low speed.

ok....that clears it up("out"=rich).....although both of mine are on the side.....1 is bigger than the other(with a t-handel.....to adjust by finger.....I assume that is the high speed

find a shroud

yeah you shoulfind a shroud, obviously its a fan cooled engine and without that shroud the cylinder and head furthest from the fan wont be getting cooled hardly at all. i know a shop out of main called doodys sled shop.http//www.doodyssledshop.com
check them out, chances are good you'll find your part. good luck

yea, the till and walbros are fuel screws, so they adjust the fuel, out = richer. mikunis have air screws which adjust the air which is opposite. out = leaner
