*** Move to Polaris Topic Please!!***
This fall I bought a 95 XCR 600 and I really like the sled, but I have some questions about it.
1) I have read some about people puting a Wilwood brake lever and master cylinder on the sleds to get something that is alittle easier on the hands. Is this something anyone here has done, or even heard about. SLP sells a kit (
Polaris - Wilwood Brake Cylinder Kit - Starting Line Products ) but being the economically burdened american i am, i am wondering if i can use a cylinder/lever assembly off of a mid 90's Arctic Cat. I know they had Wilwoods on them, and I know they are alot cheaper than the SLP kit. Anything?
2) I found a Polaris FAQ (
Polaris FAQ ) and it says I have 92 HP w/ 38mm carbs and 597cc. The 97 XLT SP has the same 597cc, 38mm carbs and 97HP. Whats different? The only reason I ask is because my buddy just bought a 97 XLT SP w/ a bad crank and we put an Ultra engine in it so I have access to the old engine if I wanted the parts (heads, cylinders, etc.) Anyone?
3) I want to pipe this sled (tripples) and I have read all the warnings about the monoblock tripples, my only question is, if I pull the engine and check they oil hole sizes to ensure the crank is getting enough oil, will I stand a much better chance of not blowing the engine, assuming I do everything else right (jets, clutch, etc)? If I end up poping a piston and have to replace that, thats one thing, but I would rather not have to change a crank/case...
Thanks for any help....
