I have a 1990 Srv that was my dads. Had some time off from work so I did a totally sled restored. Motor : 455 miles on fresh pro built, 40 over, 35,000 off heads, double stage reeds, nice big cat 40mm mikuni round slide with oil injection hooked up, new track. Skid has been dropped 2 1/2 inches. New red plastic ski's. Clutches have brevity redone comet 108, exciter II secondary 39 helix, no rips or tears in seat perfect hood , led light kit. Port timing and exhaust has been ported. Runs good with psi racing pipe. Have over $1,600 into it . But due to many surgeries and just got a Tripple it has to go. Have tons of parts.
nice sleeper sled. Nice and lite . Will smoke the zr 600 and 700 for a short run
Ya I was just up in Belvidere a week ago at a sled salvage yard . Buying cat parts for a 97 Zrt . Didn't no the swap meet is up there. When is it? Can't believe I can't even get $ 850 out it . I have over $1,600 into it. Never do that again
Nice cat . I herd you where a racer. That's a lot of coin to build one. I went and got a 1997 Zrt 600 Tripple . Think the body has around 3,980 or 4,223 miles on it. The owner just did a rebuild to show his kid . He said it didn't need it. So bottom crank seals and bearings . Top half spi Teflon Pistons and new water pump. And powered coated everything . Don't no a thing about them. Just heard you will be tuning the carbs always. Went out and got new VFORCE-3 reeds , and used D&D pipes . And a extra 9 tower witch I was told it was better then the 6 . Which the 6 is better the dealer said. I just run at low end and midrange . Just trying to figure cheep mods I can do . I heard air flow temp kits are good to keep your sled safe from burning up. So what are you riding now?
Nice machines! Who knows, it may sell as we get closer to fall. This time of year, I start thinking of winter. I'm sure once things start to cool off a little, other people will too.
Unfortunately, that's the way it goes. You get much less than what you put into the machine. In order to make money to have to take the stock market approach; buy low....really low!
I am going to put it on the swap meet site but it wouldn't down load my pics so I will try later to day . The cat I called a guy that was recordmened on motor porting and crank porting and welding the crank. I would love to do it but being off work for two years and no income . And just got out of 3 surgery on the 15 for my neck . I have wait for my check. I am just going to play around with the clutching and gearing . This year. And learn about this Zrt 600 motor . Because I don't have a clue on them . Those three carbs worry me . I just keep hereing that the type of sled your always playing with the carbs which I hate doing. Maybe a temp flow system
No big deal at all.
The only time you have to mess with the carbs is preseason!
The only other time is if you go up or down in elevation or temp!
Once you get it dialed in, no worries!
Ya I will no more this winter . If we get any snow. I had s heck of a time jetting that 90 srv 540 mod . That cat 40 mm mikuni was a project . Getting all the cables right . And jetting was a issue . Had to try a lot of different needles and nozzle tubes and getting my clutch to In Gauge right and getting my back shift was a task with the bigger exciter II secondary but got it failed in. What a learned the best way is to do it yourself and take your time. People can tell this and that But doing it yourself taught me a lot about the functions of things that have to work together .since I have bought the VFORCE reeds I no I will have to re jet it
Not so much with the reeds as pipes!
So tell me what all you did with the SRV?
I have a 40mm on mine and had more issues with the cables including the brake because I put a riser on it and different bars!
Where did you end up with the jetting? I got started on mine then NO snow!
Got throttle cable three walh brothers and oil injection cable was a exciterII cable . After about a week fighting it. The who sold it to me made a honest mistake and gave me phazer cable. Which had a shorter throw on it. I think. I had cut one of the cables and put a spacer in there. I have to look at my notes and had to get the right throttle lever. For the throw to pull the cat carb open. I was I had shorter float bowl. Mine is so big with the normal nut on bottom and a half inch copper tube coming out the button with a hose clamp close . So the carb is tight in there against the frame . Have to cut the nipple coming down.
I had to cut some of the outside cable to get mine to work.
There are a lot of those 40mm Mikunis out there and some even have an angled settlement bulb on them or none!
I'll PM you my email and if you can find your notes, I'd love to chat with you about your SRV!
Didn't we chat on the SRV Board to begin with?
Hi Kccats , sorry so to get back to you. Had surgery again on my neck and have problem choking, saw doc yesterday and he said my throat is in flamed and might have to go back in surgery because the plate they put in is wrong. My carb is set up. 2.5 slide, 40 pilot. ( 35 pilot was tested at 25 degree day out ) needle 7DH3 3 slot from bottom. ( might go to 7DH2 needle) 430 main. Two turns out on air screw. Idles at 1,600 to 1,700 rpm. Clutch comes in at 4,100 rpm. Getting a little to much oil. Might go up on main. With the exciter II secondary stock settings. It's the bigger size secondary with 39 Helix. Had a little problem with the bosysen double stage reeds . A little sluggish on low end so I took off the curved reed cage and went with the straight bar going across the bottom of reeds . Made a big differences . The carb is off a cat . It has a big float bowl I ever seen . It has the nut on the bottom and a copper nipple come out the bottom to had to trim that. What to change the top gear down to a 16T gear if I can find one . Drove it twice last year . Had good low end and midrange and really didn't hit top end because of no room to open it up . Ya , tube is AA-5. I have UFO kit but didn't put them on . I ride mostly low end and midrange . Now I bought a 97 Zrt . So I am trying to sell my Srv butt no real buyers. Had three fake checks sent for the sled and the bank cleared them and gave me the cash and about 6 days later they call and want there money back. And I said how can you process a check and ok it and give me cash and then want your money back, don't you check on these checks because it takes them 6 days to clear . I wanted a $1,000 for it and $1,200 for all the parts. Even went done to $800 . So I might just keep it . It's a light sled and restored everything . Its a good sleeper sled . Butt my attention is now on the cat Zrt 97 with reverse . Motor was just rebuilt. The owner showed me the paper work on it . But I don't trust what people say when they are trying to sell there machine . I have been down that road before. Dont have a clue on a Tripple ? Kid went out and bought VFORCE-3 reeds and D&D pipes. Didn't put them on yet. So are you ridding with a 40mm too? And do you have a cat to?
Yep about the same set up!
You will be VERY impressed with that Cat once it is right!
I would call D&D and get the jetting and clutching specs for those pipes!
Ya , I was told the same thing. Clutching and carb set up makes a world of deference . Still have to get a 16t for the Srv . And if it doesn't sell I will use it as a back up sled
I have two 38mm. I was going to one of them in at first but then a lot of people said the 40mm I think the 38mm you would gain a little more snap of the line .
Ya I have anther 40mm it's off a ski- Doo and has a primer. It's been bored out . When you look threw it you can see it. It came off a Mach #1 . 670 double.
