Mine is shot, as there's a huge crack at the butt and the fabric ends are all brittle and torn/cracked. The plywood board is also frail. If anyone has a black w/ red stripes seat for a 90 Indy 400, or has anything comparable that I could vinyl dye, I'd be a happy camper.
Also, as I already have a 93 Indy Trail Deluxe 2-up, does anyone know what other snowmobile seats like the 2-up would fit that 90 400? The tank cover is really nice, but if you have another seat config, could you also let me know if there's also a gas tank cover to go with it? Thanks, Eric in Slinger WI.
Picked up a really nice 2-up off a 93 Indy Touring, including the back rest AND a storage rack, AND the gas tank and cover for $50. Just a minor tear at the back of the first level. I'll be prepping with cleaner, isopropyl cleaner, then applying duplicolor vinyl dye for the satin black look. I'll post pics of the before/after after I and my sons tackle the work.
sounds like your all set but just in case not. i just bought a brand new cover from a seller who make them by hand at a great price. mine was shot so i ordered and installed mine. simply awesome craftsmanship. very heavy duty -40 material too. cost was $59 plus 10 for expedited shipping. can't brag the seller up enough. haven't seen any as nice for little money. can post a pic if anyone wants to see the fit and finish. ps double stitched too :>)
Sure, please post pics. It's a bummer that with the replacement 2-up Touring seat that I no longer have those two red stripe (whatever they're called...) at the top corners.
i would if i can figure out how to. looks like i need to post to an outside source like photobucket? won't let me attach directly. or send me your email and i can send direct.
thanks for fixing RJ. thats how i wanted it but couldn't get photobucket to work like that for me. never used an outside site to upload and transfer. im use to being able to post pics direct. will have to see what im doing wrong on photobucket.
That's really a great price for what appears to be a well-fitting cover. Most aftermarket replacements start at $175 or more.
If the original appearance is a "gotta have", check with local upholstery shops to get a custom-made price. Also, check with larger snowmobile dealers in your area to see if they could recommend you to a specific upholsterer. Lots of times, the amount of material that has to be bought for just one cover makes it super expensive for a one-off. But, an upholsterer that does a lot of that sort of work might be much more cost-effective.
im pretty sure there isn't any others this nice around for $59 plus 12 shipping. the material is heavier then polaris was stock. plus fabric has come a long way in 30 years. in all fairness this is better then stock. it would be wrinkle free if i wanted it to be tight. originally i was gonna make my own and glad i didn't. it would have never been this nice and i would have been so upside down money-wise and time. anyone who needs one i can post a ebay link to the seller.
