Cochrane Ontario

Hey guys, I know that most of you are americans so I was wondering if any of you have ever traveled to Cochrane Ontario. It has what I consider to be the best trails in Ontario. Very scenic. They are extremely well groomed and marked. Very snomobiler friendly towns and they have groomed trails from the middle of December to the middle of April!!! If you havn't gone there before and you are looking for a nice combo of open trails and twisties this is your place. The trails are very wide as well so the safety factor from the idiots is a definite bonus!

not sure but I can tell ya that it is about 7 hours straight North of Toronto. It is about an hour away from the Quebec border but it is quite a ways north.

Oh well it is about 5 hours straight north of North Bay (weather pending of course) I have ridden in North Bay a few times too and they don't even compare to up in the Cochrane Timmins area. They get way more snow up there and the trails are better kept. I think that is largely to do with the fact that not everyone is willing to drive the distance to go there. If you can go during the week it is pretty hard to find a trail that is very rough. Even on weekends they are quite good.

coo. yeah, i believe ive done i little riding in that area. the farther north you go, the better the riding gets. in bracecridge, it's great, but north bay is way better because like you said less people go up that far.

ill have to do a whole trip up that way then.

read an article on cochrane, looked awesome! ill be up in orth bay sometime in january/february probably. dad's going to quebec christmas break, i might go.

it looked a lot better, yeah i think it's because of how far north it is. we'd go though. been to Timmins one time. a few years ago, we were going to go to bracebridge but they didnt have any snow. so we tried north bay and they got hammered! we were going to go as far as timmins for snow.

Pretty close to you,HB when I'm up your way.We hang around the French River(middle) area.Been wanting to do the snowtrain bit ever since I heard of it.Seen the trail maps of North Bay.Locals said we could try to make a go of it if we can all round up trail permits.I know we're supposed to go to Kilarny(sp) if weather permit on New Years. If not on the last week of February.Day permits seem almost as much as seanal though
Chance we might hook up.....

yea let me know when you are in the area, day permits are 36 dollars i belive,

i dont have insurance and crap on my sled so if ya wanna hoom up for a lil ride, you'll have to stop by my house there is a trail that comes right to it, the pipeline, i ride the pipeline, pond, and there is a abandoned pit my friend owns just down the road from me, i ride alot in,

hopefully next year i will be insured and liecensed and have trail pass.
