no sled to small!
Been working of my 580 but its still not ready. Wanted to ride with a buddy so I had to break out the wifes 2001 370Z fan cooled. We hit the trails and I pushed this thing to the limits. It handled great. Buddy was running a Vmax 700 triple, said it wasnt easy keeping up in the woods, of course the straight aways were a different story, but the little sled was enough to be out there having the fun I needed. I did feel a little intimidated by the bigger sleds but if they only new what it was capable of in the trails I believe anyone would be impressed!

in trails it's usually more about rider skill than the sled anyways

My wifes 370 is a real fun machine to ride. I do just fine on the trails with it. Stay right with the bigger sleds. Of course your not going to win a race with them. If your not into being the fastest and want to enjoy the sport to its fullest then the smaller less expensive sleds are the way to go.

I have been riding my friends 370 this year too and yes i can keep up with ease in the tight trails, but the only thing is the suspension could be higher, because im too big for it lol, even though im 190lbs, and the suspension is set up as high as it can go, the track ribs up agains the tunnel on take off, thus making a "grinding sound" we thought it was something else but when i stand way foward as far as i can it doesnt do it and when no body is on the sled it doesnt do it, but other then that it is a very light flickable machine for trails!

I lowered my wifes suspension and when I ride it I dont bottom out. I'm 230lbs. Theres a bracket below the rails where you can lower it by about 2 inches. It only took about 10 minutes to do.

Thats funny you should say that, I noticed the same thing. I checked the track thinking it was loose, then I checked the chain, nothing wrong. Thanks for the input, Ill have to make the adjustment next time.

Yep me and my friends dad couldnt figure uit out either, but then we realized what it really was.
Locky, do you mean the holes that the skid is hooked to, you lowerd it, thus making it sit higher?? By chance could you post a pic of this, because i cant find one anywhere?  But i think i know what you mean.

Drop a polaris modifed 800 twin into any sled that says 340 on the side...Could win some money that way...or get beat up that way...

I think by doing this you actually raised the suspension.

Hey locky i was looking on the 370 the other day at my friends and dont see where the holes in the tunnel are to raise it up.?

You actually lower the suspension and that raises the back of the sled.

Locky where exactly do you lower the suspension? I looked all over the tunnel and couldnt find where i would do this.

About 2-3 inches below where the suspension bolts through you should see a bracket with I think 3 holes in it. You can lower your suspenison and bolt it through one of the holes.

yeah, little sleds are fun too, because you can just lay into the throttle and not worry about getting thrown around.
it seems like you're going really fast when you're not on those too! i loved my 380... if i was driving, it did great in powder and going up hills. but, gotta move up sooner or later.

some of the most fun I have had on a sled was on a polaris colt 250ss. After adding ski spreaders I could outrun most 600s in the tight trails.

Great !! I am glad I ran into this post. The wife and I (Polaris trail Touring, 488 fan, for three years)got back from our winter snowmobile trip and she said, "Maybe we should think about getting two sleds".
She is thinking about a 05 Polaris 340 Classic, and I said the only thing I am worried about in buying the 340 is she may out grow it. She says she will not!. She is not into speed, (I am not either) just one that handles well (I will update from steel skis to plastic) and stays below 65 mph. Looks like the sled for her.
I am looking at the 05 500 Classic. The 600 would be over kill I feel.
