Thumbs up

Nice, I went out Wednesday night a little past Brimley. Trails are in great condition. Haven't had a chance to get toward Newberry like I had planned, or north of there yet, but I will. I'm planning on doing a lot of riding the weekend of the I-500, so that will be sweet.

I know up here in Duluth, MN there really is no snow to speak of at the moment.
When we were up there last weekend, not much snow...they're calling for snow all this week though. How bad do you want to ride?

From a different thread

............

Well. We (Dano and I) got out on the 19th as planned, but unfortunately about 15 miles or so up the trail, the sled I was riding (1998 700 XC (modified to 135 hp w/ 141" track)) sprung a coolant leak. We ended up towing it back with Dano's 700 RMK... so at least we had a good tow sled. to Bergland and had to end the day since we could not find the leak.... and none of us felt like looking too hard on a 0 degree day.

The sled is actually FRNTFLP's (forum members) since my Zr is in for repairs.

Anyway. The trail we were on was excellent. It runs from Bergland to Silver City. It was freshly grommed with lots of snow cover. I would estimate there was about 2 feet of snow on the ground, but we were able to find lots of powder off the trails. Unfortunately didn't get to play too much in it.

If you are riding up toward Michigan, do not go to Wisconsin (very little snow) but to at least to IronWood or further. Bergland and the areas north appear to have the most snow.

Strokez knows how it is! Here in the Soo there's about 2 feet. I've put on about 350, including my trip to Maine. Been a good year so far! This weekend's gonna be great in the Soo. Lot's of trail traffic with the race. Ride safe!

Oh, Cobra's story reminds me of one similar. About 3 weeks ago I was riding with my buddy and his ski-poo blew a piston. I had to tow him about 5 miles. Gave him a bunch of crap for that, he's always saying my Polaris is junk....haha. He never towed me off the trail!

As soon as my Zr comes back form the shop (and I test ride it to make sure it works) I want to get back to the UP. I really want to get up there. The 15 mile trip we took wetted my tounge for some more riding. Its going to be spring soon enough so I better hurry up and get to riding! Usually I go about 1500 miles in a year, but this year i have a grand total of about 35!

To the UP boys!

Well, yesterday me and a couple other friends from school "took the day off" to go riding. We left Newberry around 9 a.m. and went up to Paradise, then over to Grand Marais, down to Seney, and then back home. The trails going up to Paradise were great, but the trail running from Paradise over to Grand Marais was horrible. We stopped and ate and gassed up in Grand Marais (gas was $2.15 a gallon, and we had to wait 10 minutes to get to the pump because there were about 20 sleds infront of us getting gas). The trail running from Grand Marais down to Seney wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest either. The Seney trail was in great shape, even with all the traffic that was on it. Overall we put on 180 miles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hey, at least you had a good excuse... I get that flu/bronchitis/pneumonia thing everytime it snows more than 6"too.... terrible... just terrible.

$2.15 a gallon! Damn... thats expensive. We are around $1.90 here in Duluth.

Paradise must be trying to make up for lost revenue earlier in the winter.

1.69 here in Traverse City.

naw, it's just that you HAVE to pay that much for gas up there, there's no where else to get it. Here in Newberry it's a $1.91 for premium

Nothin' less than $1.79 for the cheep stuff and around 1.95 for premium north of Houghton this last weekend. Copper Harbor was $2.65 although they tend to try to take advantage of location. 10 miles away by trail was around $2.05.

It's a bit steep, but then again, it's a heck of a lot better than staying home & riding in the dirt !

Trials were good to excellent, not much dirt. Off trail was fair. Needs more snow, but definately a good time. Didn't even think about coming home early due to lack of snow. After two days in low 30's, temps dropped to 10 below w/ a high of 3 below. Everything was really hard. If the trail was smooth to begin with, it was a sweet race track after. If it was bumpy before the hard freeze, then the bumps were a contanstant "pain in the butt" - literally ! And that's on a race sled where you don't spend much time sittin !
