Just bought my first sled and ready to hit the trails this winter, anyone know where there are some good places to ride in michigan. Oh and also what are some good cans I can put on an 08 mxz 600 adrenaline.

Anywhere in the Northern Michigan is great for riding, The U.P. is the best. Try to go durning the week too, and avoid the weekend warriors. The trails are much better durning the week.

Michigan is a great place to ride there is many places to ride, but if you are looking to trail ride do not can your sled! Its a 500 dollar fine to have a can on your sled.

Michigan is full of trails in the upper regions. I usually stay in St. Helen and travel the rest of the way by sled. Most all trails are connected to each other so you can explore everywhere up there.
Last year Kensington state park allowed sleds if there was more than 4" on the ground.
Don't can your sled if you are trail riding. Quiet riding is the name of the game, and you really don't need more power from a 600 on the twisty trails of the LP.

I agree, the U.P. is the best. Although up here in Gaylord we do have nice trail from Gaylord,MI all the way too Mackinac City.

check out some trail maps on the computer to see what towns you can ride to and from. The Mancelona Gaylord Kalkaska area is right in the snow belt in the lower and is a lot shorter drive then crossing the bridge. Go to sledheads of Fredric to see what Pete is up to. He posts something on his website daily summer winter rain snow or shine. Michigan.org is also pretty good to see some trail conditions and trail maps. Good luck ride safe and enjoy your new sled.

Check out ww.trailreport.com. It has weather reports, trail conditions, and all sorts of info posted by hotel and resort owners that are on the trails daily. Usually, most of these people post daily and even have numbers posted that you can call and get up to the minute reports. I rode the Gaylord trail system in the lower last year during the week and it was great. I prefer the St. Ignace trail system in the UP....lots of great riding!

Yeah we were actually talking about staying in St. Ignace cause we want to ride over to Mackinac Island and maybe take the trip to Drummond Island also. Not sure how far it is but we always heard how nice of a ride and scenic it was. Is there a shuttle or something that if we wanted to go across the bridge to get to Mackinac City we can.

Michigan Trails
I'm not sure of a "shuttle" to Mackinaw City. We usually just load them up and drive back across! The St Ignace trail system is very nice, and as you say, the ride to Drummond Island is great. Also, heading west towards Trout Lake and northwest to Newberry is a very scenic ride. I always liked the UP during the week, as you pretty much have the trails to yourself, and they are nice and smooth. I really don't think you can go wrong anywhere north of West Branch on the trails....always plenty of snow and well-groomed. There are always a few crazies out there, but for the most part, great riding and great people along the way.

rite at the end of the trail that leads up to the bridge theirs a number to a company that you could call and they will come with a big van with like 6 place trailer and for like 8 bucks a sled they'll take you across..
