Minocqua Trip

well, just went on my first snowmbiling trip where i actually trialered the sleds and stayed somewhere for a while. Me and three buddies went up to Minocqua, WI, about five hours north of us, for four days of riding. we had a really great time!!! i rode the '92 Polaris RXL 650, my buddy rode my other SkiDoo 467, and the two other friends rode a 1990 yamaha phazer and an '89 polaris 500(well, he didn't really ride it that much actually...).

the polaris 500 never made it too far... the first day, it broke down about 2 miles outside of town. we pulled an all-nighter and fixed it. broke down the next day 1 mile out, and the third day across the parking lot well, it added some excitement to everything though. he wasn't that mad either, cause its such an old sled, so we just rode double, and switched around.

i think we put on over 350 miles, and managed to get a little ice-fishing in too. we rode for an hour in the U.P. too, which was very neat. just going a 2hour ride north, there is like 5 times the amount of snow due to the lake-effect. the piles of snow in Hurley were huge! luckily, we all stayed safe the whole time, with no accidents or anything. got a chance to top the sleds out too, the polaris 650 went 108, the SkiDoo 85+, and the phazer about 75. very fun time!!!

THAT's what makes snowmobiling what it is. Looks like a good time!

Five of us from Central Illinois were in Minocqua at the same time! We thought the trails were pretty good too. We went to the UP for a night and the trails were even better up there! We stayed at Lake Gogebic. Only had a few gravel trails near PresqueIsle. Hope to do the same trip next year. The weather sure changed the next weekend!
