press on regardless on Beaver Island

We got 10+ inches here a week ago and rode everyday someplace different, 'till the warmup today. We do not have a groomed trail system, so there is lots of log jumping (gently!) and running through brush on the less-used woods trails.

We drove across the ice (Lake Michigan) to two uninhabited islands near us going down through the middle of one on a 'Model T truck' trail that hadn't been ridden in years. Saw an old Indian cemetary and fallen down log homes.

Most interesting was finding a way through an old road on our island that everyone said was closed shut. Even the beaver dams didn't stop the group from proving them wrong!

We're supposed to get some more Sun. night, Chris, so it might not be over yet! Notice you live in se Mich and come up to sled WB. We are finally talking about getting a club going again, after all these last rides (and all these last years!) We know people might fly here and rent sleds (hasn't been done since the late 70's) if we had a little more user-friendly trail system. It would also be easier for the older and novice islanders to get around. There would still be lots of ungroomed for the more adventurous. Ride-on!!!

Hey, jK! Yeah, the remote location is great for outdoor sports, 'cause you never feel crowded. I road down to a 400 acre lake at the south end a couple weekends ago and there were only 3 shantys on it, about 10 guys fishing!

Othertimes it's a pain when you need something from the mainland you can't get here, sled parts are a good example. You have to get them shipped. Somedays the plane doesn't fly because of weather, so stuff sits on the other side 32 miles but only 15 minutes away!

But to be able to ride a sled right down the middle of the main street (at a safe speed, of course!) is something you just can't get away with except in a unpopulated place.
