Snow cross style helmets
I was wondering how people who use snow-pro style helmets for general trail riding like them. I am just getting back into sledding and having sold my ski-doo modular and recently I found a good deal on a new HJC snowcross style. My quesiton is, can you keep your face warm enough to enjoy the ride (in colder temps) and if you can, what do you need to use in terms of goggles, etc. Thanks, Kevin

I sold my sled and the helmet went with it. I liked the Modular helmet quite a bit. I've heard good reports about the Zeus Modular helmet as well.

I have one of each, both good to have at specific times. snox helmets are for warmer weather in my opinion and fullface are good all around but get hot on the warmer days.

I wear my moto-x helmet whenever i ride, even on cold days, i just have a ski mask on under it and that keeps me warm even on very cold days like around 15ºF and going 65mph down a trail so its even colder but my face stays warm. I also wear smith goggles and you dont have to worry about fogging, if you do spray so spray designed to not fog up onto the lenses.
Woah i just realized this was a dead topic lol my bad.

i'm with snowfreak. all the time i wear my dirtbike helmet. it has a nose/mouth gaurd that u put in when it gets realy cold. i wear one of those face masks underneath too. i do just fine unless it's like -20 out so most of the time it works fine. i absolutley hate snowmobile helmets. wow do i hate them, so restricting.

I don't know what the temps are like in the rest of the country but I wouldn't want to wearing a motocross helmet tonight. It's about -15 right now.

I wear my Thor Moto-X helmet with a Ski-Doo Nylons facemask with the nose piece, and little holes over the mouth with my Spy Goggles, and I've worn them in weather as cold as -30ºC and colder, and been completely fine. I would never wear another full face helemt agin snowmobiling, goggles are definatly where it's at.

I always wear my atv helmet when im riding the sled.. the sled helmets are too heavy and after a long day they hurt ur neck. just make sure if its not made for snowmobiles to tape up the ventalation holes to keep the cold air from giving you a headache.

They are OK, but in my opinion an MX helmet with goggles and a breath guard is kind of uncomfortable.
Also, you need to make sure that the goggles you choose fit in your helmet.
Also, at higher speeds you get some visor lift. Wind will catch on the visor and literally tip your head back. Its not a big deal, but it can get annoying on windy days.
I used to wear an MX helmet, but I have switched back to the traditional fullface "street" style helmet.
