I love my KBS sn-x helmet. It comes with both options. You can keep the full sheild on or remove 2 screws and switch to the visor setup on the warmer days. This is my atv/snowmobile helmet. So in the winter, I am switching back and forth quite often. Nothing against HJC, but they just dont fit my head right. The KBCs feel like a custom fit.

We haven't had a lot of opportunity to ride but I have been using my open face MX-style helmet with just a balclava under it, no breath shield. So far I haven't even used goggles ( although I know I should be...) but it has proven to be plenty warm enough and much more comfortable than a full face snowmobile helmet.

I usually start out the day with the breath shield, but it gets too hot and I remove it shortly thereafter. I would wear my mx style all the time, but The lift it creates from the wind catching the visor gets old real quick. So if I know I'm gonna be diong some faster riding for the day, I switch to the full face. Even though I prefer the mx.

snox helmets are amazing when it is nice out. other than that a fullface is the best bet. gets cold quick in a snox helmet when the sun sets or the temp drops suddenly.

Also, you need to make sure that the goggles you choose fit in your helmet.
Also, at higher speeds you get some visor lift. Wind will catch on the visor and literally tip your head back. Its not a big deal, but it can get annoying on windy days.
I used to wear an MX helmet, but I have switched back to the traditional fullface "street" style helmet.
I never had a problem with visor lift. Love the MX style. Look way better more comforatble to me. They are just as warm and full faces. Unless your goggles arent in right or you take the breath box out (i got really and i mean REALLY bad frostbite last year on my nose and i had goggle outlines cause i didnt wear my breathbox in 10- weather. I was out in the country and racing back into town to get my breathbox but it was too late.) Goggles usually dont fox and if they do theres always the no fog lenses or ou can get spray.

Overall i love my mx style helmet. I suggest it to everyone.

i find moto helmets with goggles warmer than closed helmets. You just have to make sure your goggles fit the helmet properly. A breath deflector that is made the helmet helps too.

The only time its ever cold to wear on is zipping across a lake at 80+mph with a heavy cross wind.

Scott warpII sno-x googles are where its at for anti fog too.

Thats why you make sure the goggs fit the heltmet!!!

I have used and moto or snocross helmet for 4 years now and they are warmer than closed face helmets if you equipt them properly.

1. Proper fitting goggles
2. breath guard (for you nose)
3. belaclava - sorry about the spelling...?

The only time you feel the cold is when you have a strong cross wind and your zipping across the lake or open field at 80mph plus.

my .02 cents

oh and my former post said i use scott warp II with my cl-x4. ya that was wrong. I where scott Hi-voltage and Hi-voltage sno-x

i have the same problem so this year I'm just gonna get a breathbox thing for my motocross helmet cause it seems like whenever I'm riding i have my shield open anyway cause it fogs up so bad. Iv tried anti fog window cleaner and wipes. Nothing seems to help.

wearing sno-cross helmets are like wearing any other kind of helmet. it keep's you warm when you wear your beliclave or w.e and just get some goggle like (Sky,Smith,Scott,Okely,Fox) and many more.
