Fair enough. I'll do my part for the environment... I won't ride it April through November, when it is warm, so I won't cause pollution.

If DFI and SDI cut down emissions so well why don't Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat publicize it better? They seem to concentrate more on gas milage and ease of starting, IMO. Are your Cats carbed or injected? If they're injected there's no need to worry about pollution, so you use them this summer for grass drags!

surprisingly, the rev 800 h.o. gets better gas milegage than the 600 h.o.!

i think the reason skidoo/AC concentrate on gas mileage is because thye think "you dont use as much gas" is easier to understand than "youll have lower emissions".

HEY RGOERS,
ACCORDING TO THE ARTICAL THE POLLUTION THAT THE TREE HUGGERS CLAIM IS NOT POSSIBLE AT THE TEMPS THAT SNOWMOBILES ARE NORMALLY RUN AT THE TESTING THAT THEY ARE CONDUCTING ARE AT WARM TEMP. ALSO THE
, NOT INCLUDED IN THIS ARTICAL, IS THAT THE SLED THEY ARE USING FOR THEIR TESTING IS A 488 FAN POLARIS, NOT EXACTLY UP TO TODAYS HIGH TECH. THIS IS A QUOTE FROM THE ARTICAL,
"THE OBVIOUS FACT THAT SNOWMOBILES DO NOT CONTRIBUTE
TO OZONE PRODUCTION BECAUSE THE EXHAUST PRODUCTS DO NOT HAVE THE HOT ENVIRONMENT FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS IS CONVENIETLY IGNORED(BY ENVIROMENTALIST) YES SNOWMOBILES PRODUCE, NITROGEN OXIDES, CARBON MONOXIDE
AND HYDROCARBONS BUT IT IS OF LITTLE CONSEQUENCE TO DRAG OUT FANCY INSTRUMENTA TO MEASURE THIS, SINCE THEY ARE OPERATED IN A WINTER ENVIROMENT WHERE THE GASSES NEVER COMBINE TO PRODUCE SMOG POLLUTION". IF YOU CAN GET AHOLD OF THE MAG, IT WILL MAKE FOR SOME GOOD READIN'
THE REASON WE ARE GETTIN' SOME CRAP NOW IS BECAUSE THE SNOWMOBILE INDUSTRY HAS NO MORE LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON
DUE TO THE LAST FEW RETIRING IN THE LAST FEW YEARS AND THE
MANUFACTURERS NOT REPLACING THEM TO SAVE MONEY, BIG MISTAKE ON THEIR PART. THE ARTICAL ALSO STATES THE THE COMPLAINTS FROM THE GATEHOUSES AT YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK COULD BE SOLVED BY A HVAC CONTRACTOR FOR AROUND $5000, INSTEAD THEY CHOSE TO HASSLE THE INDUSTERY. I WILL SEE IF I CAN GET MY COMPUTER WIZ KID DAUGHTER TO TRY TO POST THE ARTICAL IN IT'S ENTIRETY.

P.S. HEY RGOERS, STILL WANT TO CHECK OUT THE 104 TRAILS THIS COMING WINTER???

You bet!!! Just got back from vacation (camping) in Letchworth State Park. I was already asking about snowmobiling there... kind of took the attendant off guard to be asking about winter sports in the heat of the summer. Grin! They have a pretty nice trail system there as well. Goes all the way into PA. I understand they already have a trail to Letchworth from Rochester (Henrietta). The GOOD news is that they have proposed trails from WAYNE county!!!! They would link Wayne county to the Honeoye trail system, and from there, link to Letchworth.

Can't wait for the SNOW!!! I'll be heading for 104 as soon as there's 3" of snow on the ground...

Did that say Photosynthesis? Last time I checked only plants converted CO2 and H20 into glucose. This would be a truely amazing discovery if snowmobiles could produce sugar from their exhaust. Now I don't have to buy Sugar at the grocery store. I'll just bag any solid matter coming out of my exhaust pipe.

Cobra, you ever ride behind a new F7 runnin synthetic during breakin, smells sweet to me...lol. Chase has a good point. The trails by me all lead to a bar somewhere within a mile or two so nightime around here sucks. Expecially when you dont drink and walk out a bar\lounge after eating and have a Racine county officer give you sobriety tests before you hop on the sled at every bar. Me and 2 buddies got stuck on the lake out near Ashland and Minoqua for 3 hours trying to find the trail we were on cause everything closed at 10pm and no lights as markers.I ended up takin a street towards what i thought was town to get fuel for my buddies F7 just to find it closed. Nighttime is great but not where much aint open.

I would be much more cautious riding at night in unfamiliar places.

As for getting lost... GPS baby, GPS! You can get a basic one for $150 or less. Clip it on your dash, set "tracks" to "on", and go! You'll never get lost again. I have a Garmin Legend which works beautifully, even when it's so caked with snow that I have to chip it off to see the display. Another benefit is that you'll be able to clock your *real* speed with a GPS. (Both of my sled speedos show I'm going faster than I actually am.)

pros and cons both way. Lights give you a warning you're about to meet someone on the corner. Now whether or not they are going to give you enough room to get by is another story. Same goes during the day. Easier to see the trail conditions at night, unless snowing. More deer at night, but fewer sleds.
