Southwest Michiganders
I am getting ready to head out the door to hit up the Kal Haven trails at the corner of M40 & M43. This is a call out to anyone that wants to ride one more time before our 40+ Degree weather hits this afternoon and wipes out all our snow. If you want to meet up I will arive at the intersection in about 1 hour or so. I have to stop and grab a couple things and i will be on the road. there is a park and ride right on the corner there. If you want to meet up, give me a call. (269)816-1254

Hey I am a southwestern Michigander
Hey I am looking for new people to start riding with.
It is me and my wife and we have sleds that are very reliable.
We love to ride but most of our friends are boring with riding corn fields around their house and the same thing over and over again.
Love to start riding with new people this season.
If you are interested give me or my wife a call

wow, I forgot i even made this post. LOL. Well, i am glad to have someone close that wants to go. We have a pretty decent group this year. Most of us are polaris, but we dont look down on anything. We are all in it for the sport and in some occasions, the thrill. I will let you know that our biggest rule that we follow is NO drinking and riding. I have herd to many stories of people getting hurt or killed with that. We dont need to lose any riders. I will give you a call later on today and we can talk a little bit.
Mike

You have a pretty good trail system there, or are those the cornfields you are referring to? Deb and I head up to Baldwin occasionally for a change of pace. With gas prices down, maybe we can afford to go riding this winter after all. We usually leave out of Vandalia, ride down towards Lunker's, up through Sumnerville, and out past the Irish Spartan Sports bar off M-62., or ride the trail up to Lawton when we ride the Niles area trails.

heck, lawton is only about 7 miles from were we unload the sleds. The actual trail starts about 3 miles from the park and ride. Up till then, yeah there are feilds you ride, but it is well worth it once you get to the trails.

So you park at the M-40/1-94 Park & Ride and head south? Do they plow that, I have a 2WD truck. Doesn't the trail cross I-94 heading north somehow as well?
So, to go south to Lawton, do you ride alongside M-40 heading south? The trail crosses M-40 north of Lawton somewhere and then you ride on the west side of M-40 down the trail? We come from Vandalia from the south, and usually turn around and head back from D.Coy Ducks or Old Hat, but I am game for staging from that park and ride area, if I don't have to ride along the edge of the road and tear up the carbides and Hyfax.
Vandalia is OK, but the city lot is usually plowed bare, and the roads in vandalia as well, so it is hard on the sleds getting to the south side of Vandalia where that little feeder trail exits to the west. I tried the Fire Department parking lot, but got a note from the sheriff not to do that any more on my windshield, which is too bad, as it is about 2 blocks from the trail.

Might come up the week before the NASF, we were out riding at the NASF, and the trails were beat up and tiring to ride on, which I guess happens a lot for that, and we never made it, took that road that is i think trail 6 that goes back into town, miles of whooped out snirt. By then we had had enough, the next morning there was a little more snow so we went down the trail south of town, seems like it was an old rail road bed, Pine River trail? Last year, we didn't do much riding while we were there, maybe a couple hundred miles total. Anyways, hope to actually make it to the Boon store camp fire one of these years. I hear they had snow drags there. We have been staying at McGuire's when we come up, as my wife really likes roughing it, hot tub pool, etc. Bar downstairs, so no driving involved, just a walk back to the room. It depends if gas stays low, and if I ever have any disposable income again in this life!

Ya the trails totally suck around here during snow fest. They're not bad on Friday morning as I always try and do the poker run. The snow drags are held out to Boon if the lake conditions are not good enough. Last year they were on the lake. My aunt and uncle actually own Boon store and put on the camp fire from Friday morning to Sunday night. It's a cool little place to hang out and warm up. And lets hope the gas prices do stay low. Looking forward to doing some riding this year. Want to break that 1,000 mile mark. It's been a few years.
