thats hard to say... what brand is it??? i guess you could bring it to the DNR or local cops and ask them to test you.. i doubt theyd bust you if you truck it to them to make sure your on the up and up.. chances are if u have to question its probly going to be to loud...

A can is just another term for your muffler. It muffles the sound coming from your engine. Aftermarket cans tend to be much louder then stock cans which is what all this commotion is about.

Man some of you guys get off easy. We pay $230 for a trail pass, and we have our provincial police on their dedicated sleds, along with normal civilians who patrol and can also give you tickets. I'm not complaining as it makes our trails safe, but it gets annoying getting stopped every hour to have all your paperwork checked. Oh and Alex, you don't want a can. They aren't legal here, and they don't even use meters. They suspect you have one, you get a $300 ticket. Unless you only run on private land, then you can do whatever you want

Yup the opp patrol with their own sleds, and then you have trail guys which are just volunteers but they have the power to ticket. I've even seen them park a patrol car across a road crossing and form a checkpoint there. And yea they really gotta do something to make it a little easier for families to afford, like discounts when buying 3 or more

I feel sorry for you guys. I live in wyoming where the only emissions or noise law for any vehicle is "No jake brake in city limits" so as long as your sled doesn't set off car alarms in the parking area when you take off, it's legal.ORV tags (for your snowmobile, ATV, dirtbike etc...) are only $15. Most of our trails are on State land and grooming and upkeep are tax funded. Alot of the landowners in the area ride too so there's alot of private land open to ride as well.

i might move to wyoming. lol. as if the amoutn of snow you get out there wasn't enough. you only need to pay $15 a year and alot of state land to ride on. can a guy ask for more?

yeah we pay around 200 bucks here for our trail passes unless you have an older sled then it drops to 75 but we dont have many regulations about noise and all that as far as i know, but i imagine its only a matter of time before snowmobiling will eventually get regulated to death like everything else, itll be a sad day when it turs into "just another form of transportation"
