being from Minnesota also, "we don't get much snow" is a line. Get a trail pass...what $10 a year? and you can get ticketed for loud sled exhaust in MN. The 88db rule is enforced here also.

You may not sled in an area that has a lot of DNR patrols, but they are out there. They also have check points setup along trails and such.

the problem is, when people do not follow the rules, it ruins it for ME. We had a trail that went through 200 acres of woods in my area. It took a group of 4-5 moron sledders to go off the trail and ride around on this guys property. The next year, he wouldn't allow the trail through. Becasue these guys didn't follow the rules...if you don't follow one rule, you probably don't follow others.

That's everywhere that it happens, not just MI.

Here's a thought, keep the exhaust stock and do the real important tweaks that will give you real gains. Then you will have a sled that can beat your buddies and be legal as well. A real "Sleeper".

They have Bear Cats I've seen them on the Sue Line up in the center of the state. (I also live in MN) I have a very loud sled so I shut my sled off while we had a smoke to let them pass.

Well unfortunatley the exhaust law did not pass. When the MSA magazine was printed they were told that it would get passed by the legislature with no problems. The way they were going to test them with a db meter held 4 feet about the exhaust with the throttle at around 4000rpm and it couldnt be over 88db. Hopefully it will get passed next year.

We ride NW of Lovells near the military playground and almost never go into Gaylord anymore...too much traffic.

It makes absolutly no sence for a snowmobiler not to be a member of a club or buy a trail pass. If you can afford to run a sled at all then you would know the least expensive item for the year would be to ride legal not to mention the bennifits the clubs provide. Do us all a favor and join a club / register your sled what ever it takes. The more legal riders out there the better the sport will become.

I've worked with DNR Officers in my area... I've seen all of their toys. They have quite the job. They get their own sled, ATV, fishing boat and a river boat. Also, they get a truck with a ramp system for their ATV and Snowmobile. They even carry black magnetic covers to cover up their DNR badge on their trucks so you do not know they are there. They also get to set their own hours. I am looking to apply.

A no trail sticker in MN is a $130ish dollar fine.
