Animals hit on trails?
well i finnaly got out on the trails for my first time and of all things i didnt expect to happen, it happend. I hit a possom. I didnt hit it hard, i just nicked it with my front left ski. I didnt want to hit it, but at the same time i wasnt gonna swerve to miss it going 45 MPH. He played dead for about 20 minutes or so, we turned around and thats about how long it took us to get back to where he was. He was just getting up so my dad and i chased him around for a little bit till he finnaly ran off the path. What has everyone else hit?

I almost hit a deer. Came close. 2 years ago a friend of mines cousin hit a deer 1/4 mile from being back at the cabin at the end of our ride. Smashed the whole hood. He was alright.

Last year the rider in front of me ran over a squirrel with a studded track. Threw the thing up about 10 feet and almost hit me. Poor accupunctured squirrel.

That's morbidly funny right there! Almost hit a deer also, luckily I didn't.

C'mon, be truthful! You ran over a beaver, and it's acorns came off.

Nope I aint sayin nothin lol.I do have a funny beaver related story for ya. Two years ago my wifes friend hit a beaver with her dodge neon and did $2300 dollars in damage! It hit dead center and took out the front plastic bumper, radiator, core suport,A/c condeser and ripped the transmission cooler lines off! They had to get it towed!

She must've hit it's nutts!
I've never hit one, but I've gotten real close to moose crossing the trail right in front of me. That stuff will make you have to check your pants at night when this mass of brown fur appears in front of you and you hit the brake and stand up and still can't see overtop of the thing. Them suckers are huge.

My girlfriend's cousin purposely hits deer... Although not with his sled...
He chases them out on to the ice where they can't run and then he drives around kicking them in the ass. It's hilariously sick and twisted. He hates animals though, I lock up my cat when he comes to visit...

That is wrong... You should hear it when you hit a possem, skunk, and any other small animal with a steel belly pan on the car and extra bracing for bottom outs... It makes a loud solid thud noise.

Haven't hit anything yet. Had a Bobcat jump out on the trail a few yards down the trail in front of me one day. I stopped. It stopped and we sat and looked at each other for a few minutes and he took off.
Came across 2 conservation workers one day in the middle of January, both packin rifles. Stopped and asked them what they were doin. They suggested we leave the area as some other sledders in the area had reported a Grizzly bear that had come out of hibernation early was in the immediate area and acting very aggressively. We left!

2 winters ago I had a deer dart out in front of me and i missed him but the doe hit me right in the side and tore me off my sled, I broke 3 ribs and my sled luckily went off a ravine and down a small hill, but didn't hit anything, I try not to ride on trails at night anymore but the other night i saw 3 in a field as i came over a small hill but luckily they weren't standing on the trail, I'm going to mount up some aircraft landing lights on my sled next lol

A deer almost took me out last year while riding the Irons trail system, luckily he had bad aim and I was able to avoid him. Several years ago in Ontario we came around a curve and a large moose was standing in the middle of the trail, good thing we were just putzing along.
