ive hit a deer. well thats a lie, my friend hit a deer while on the back of my machine...actually thats a lie too. the deer headbutted him, tore off the visor on his helmet. the deer was knocked out cold for a few minutes till my cousin had the brilliant idea to poke it with a stick. it proceeded to jump up, look around, and run right into a tree. we walked over to it laughing extremely hard. it stood up and wobbled into the woods

No we were a pretty good hike from a main road, but we did think of it. we waited 2 hours before the police arrived, at that point I thought that they weren't coming. No knife either and no sleigh to get it back to camp.

Wolf/German Shepard
I came around a corner one time and there was a wolf just standing in the middle of the trail. It moved right before I got to it though. Then, one time I was riding down an isolated road slowly and all of a sudden, a German Shepard started charging me from my right rear and went to bite my leg, then I jammed the throttle.

ok i know this isn't on a sled, but this summer in yellowstone, i was fishing and a grizzly cam out of woods about 150 yards away. there was one other guy way out there with me, and it came out of woods like 25 yards behind him. i waved and pointed at it, he saw it and backed away slowly. the thing reared up, then took to trotting in a circle around us. it got on the other side of me (180degrees around) crossed the stream, went into woods and never saw it again. that is something that really raises the adrenaline, you know!!

Depends is right.
I crapped my drawers just reading that! My biggest fear when quadding on the tight trails......Grizz! I carry bear spray but that's probably nothing more than seasoning salt for my right leg.

i ran over a coyote last year, when i stopped my friend who was behind me asked if i seen that coyote on the side of the trail, it looked a bit mangy and was limping, i said it looked fine and was in the middle of the trail when i seen it! i guess 120 studs have an effect on shiny coats and overall wellbeing.
i have come close to several deer, and almost got a wolf one day. i hit a fox in big bay several years ago also, there is alot of wildlife up here on the trails.........

ok, I think you get the trophy for "animal that scared the crap out of someone the most". That would mess my day up. Speaking of bear, has anyone seen the movie Grizzly, or Grizzly man? It is about some guy that wanted to save and become like the bear in Alaska. That guy was crazy.

ive had a bad last two years i have had on deer jump over me and at the same time the second deer went behind me and the person following me thought it hit the back of the seld.
then i hit a porkipine (Spelling?) with the left front ski
then i had the worst one when a dear came out of the woods and actually ran into the sled at 50mph. no damage besides i had to catch my bearings before pulling the rope again

Watched a deer jump over my buddy in front of me. Couldn't believe it missed him! I almost pegged an owl once. He came swooping out of nowhere. Scared the bejeebers out of me!

I was the lead sled of the four on a trail in Houghton Lake, MI last season and in a instant two deer crossed the trail with perfect timing. One barely cleared the front and the other barely cleared me doing 40-50 mph. It's hard to get pics of close calls, but the image that night was permantly captured in mine and the two friends right behind me.It was the talk of the bombfire that night. Wow!

My uncle has hit two coyotes in Westmoreland, NH and one in Pittsburg, NH. It screwed em up quite a bit i guess, but they didnt die on the trail (if they died at all). I haven't hit anything but have seen a dead rabbit in Pittsburg. Also, riding back to the cabin at night in Pittsburg I almost hit a moose. My cousin was closer though, he was riding ahead of me. The moose stepped out so close that my cousin swerved and went off the trial and rolled his sled, breaking his windsield off. That was a pretty intense encounter.
That's usually a pretty BIG thing to keep in mind when riding northern NH, the animals like walking the groomed and packed trails, esp at night.
