Sudbury Ontario Trails

Has anyone ridden this trail system? I am looking to book a trip there in the end of February. Are these trails well marked? Are they wide and safe as I have a couple of newbie's going with me this year. Last I heard they didn't even have any snow yet! Any current info on the Sudbury area would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

OFSC Trail Conditions

Doesn't look to good right now, but a lot can happen in a month.

I wouldn't totally rely on the trail conditions on the ofsc site. I was on a couple this past weekend that were indeed open, yet are still listed as closed.

your tellin me! I have been callin around up there and it still doesn't sound like there is that much snow. It could be disastrous for their tourism. I was talking to a motel in Sudbury a couple of weeks ago and they were completely vacant for February and the North Adventure Inn in Cochrane said he was empty when I talked to him on Sunday afternoon! Some friends of mine are in Cochrane right now so hopefully things are good. I called Sudbury earlier in the week and they only had 5-6 inches then.

Just read the report and I guess North Bay dropped 2 groomers in the swamp last week. I guess the lakes are getting pretty froze up now though. It is quite cold up there, close to -30C at night!

I have run into this as well. (closed trails that are open) I think what the OFSC is doing, is trying to keep as many people as possible off the trails, so they can build a base. All it takes is a couple of yahoo's riding fast, spinning tracks and the trail is back to the ****s!

I heard that North Bay just got dumped on. The weather network said upwards of 40cm's. Maybe look into a trip up there?

I heard that too but I guess it was just fluffy snow and they are still having a hard time getting a base down.

hey guy's I'm from Midland, around 1.5-2 hours north of Toronto. Since saturday we got over a metre of snow. Georgian Bay has been solid for weeks now. The tree lines have been up for a while and huts are out. Not much of a trail rider, but there all open up here and looking really good. But yeah no shortage of snow or cold up here right now
