Name 3 or 4 places where the trails are sure to be open by December 1st
I am trying to select 3 or 4 places in the U.S. or Canada to do a snowmobile trip ( as in 2 or 3 one day outings on the trails) December 1st to 18th each year. The Time is not flexible but the locations are.
Where if anywhere are trails regularly open the first two weeks in December?
I'm thinking Banff...
Any more ideas?

Trails in Gaylord, Michigan open every year on Dec. 1st, and usually around that time is when we get hit the hardest is between the middle of november to the middle of Dec.
This year everyone was saying this is gunna be the best year ever right around Dec 1st but then we had warm wether and little snow, first time in a long time. Usually it is a good ride with tons of trails and you can get pretty much about anywere from gaylord.

Boy it would have been nice this year because we have to travel earlier than normal. But our trip is already planned. I figure we'll try atv's

atv's are boring compared to sledding.
hope where you're going gets snow. If i had to pay to atv, i would be pissed.
oh wait, i guess buying one for recreation is my fault huh.

Not a chance. We travel in October this year - Southern Vermont & Northwestern Massachusetts.

If it were me, I would just keep a close eye on the web cams at John Dee's Snow Central and decide close to the date. It is so hard to predict snows this early in the season because a couple degree change either way can mean snow or rain. I am in Central Michigan and we are under a snow advisory tonight until tomorrow mid day, but it will melt by the end of the weekend. I would bet that the NWL snowbelt of Michigan will have at least a couple rideable days during the first week or two of december, but everyone and their brother end up there. Be ready for packed trails, bars, and parking areas. We usually go up, but quit early and just drag race in the fields or at the trailheads. Im 99.9% positive that all Michigan trails open on December 1st, but the sections that go through private property might be close until after the muzzleloading deer season which is done between the 10th-20th pretty much for the whole state.
