How do studs hold up?
Do the studs get bad? Like if you run around all the time in a field with out much snow do the studs still hold up?

Carbides hold up very well. It's crossing roads that kills 'em.

As long as you don't spin your track on pavement, you should be OK!

Fields should be ok.Try not to rip across plowed cornfields. those are the killers.That will definately rip your studs out and destroy a track pretty quick.When frozen, its like riding on a rock.

Spinning the track wears them quick... and crossing roads is when the track spins easiest. Never had any of them rip out, but have torn up my drive pretty bad just trying to move.

EEK! Funny how the wives get mad about stuff like that! At the same time, they think nothing of bashing 100 holes in the wall you just finished painting so they can hang their "stuff". What's up with that?

last winter my sister started mine up to move it in the shop, pinched the throttle and it just kept spinning, studs put about 5 nice gouges about 15 feet long in the cement. That one sure pleased dad

You got it!! Studs usually extend a bit longer than the track lugs. So when you're on a hard, flat surface, the rubber track doesn't even touch. Very low coefficient of friction between the steel studs & paved surface, hence max slippage & gougeage (?)!

I have to use that one!!! "No, honey, I didn't tear up the driveway we just had sealed. It's just a little gougeage." I love it!

ive had them for a while now, and there are a few missing but theyve held up pretty good.

After riding both ways; I much prefer riding without them. I find they push too much in the corners for my liking, even with 6" carbides. Without picks, I have more control if I get in a pinch... I can grab the gas and slide the rear end around. With them, you either brake, or climb a tree. No thanks...

I thought that you all would like that. I was going to put into the internet oddities thread, only I could not find it anymore.
My preference is;
NO studs. If you are riding that aggressively that you need them, you are going too fast for the trails. (At least around here)

I didn't use studs either, until I couldn't make it up an icy hill that all my buds did. That irritated me...
