Another amazing day riding in Central Oregon today. Lots of (relatively) new snow, sunny skies and for some strange reason, hardly any people! We started at the Edison Sno-Park which was nearly empty and went up to Moon Mountain. From there we rode to Elk Lake Resort for lunch. We were the only people there when we arrived - at noon no less. Very strange considering the snow was great, the weather was great and it was a weekend.

Anyway, I'm very lucky and grateful to live so close to this incredibly beautiful part of the country. I've been coming to these mountains for 40 years and I'm still in awe every time I see them on a sunny day. Just amazing!

OK, I do have some pics. I wasn't going to bother with them because they are all crummy snapshots with my camera but since you asked...

This is at Elk Lake Resort where we stopped for lunch:

This is at Moon Mountain (on the right) with Mt Bachelor in the background. I'm cheating here because this was actually taken last year but this is what it looks like.

This is on the boring drive back to Dutchman Flat from Elk Lake. I don't like driving on highways but it's the only way to get to Elk Lake. 15 minutes of flat straight road...

...and finally, this is when we got back to the trailer and were getting ready to head home:

What I didn't take pictures of is all the cool trails and play areas covered in snow or me high marking Moon Mountain :-)

OK - it's official now. Great pictures.

I'm dying to get out and ride, but just bought a new house and still in the process of moving. UGH! Haven't even started the sleds this winter - and 40" of snow is just waiting for me...

Another amazing day around Mt Bachelor. Basically no new snow for three weeks but the snow we have is holding up well. Trails were in great shape. The snow off the trails is getting heavy but it's in great shape too - considering.

It was 3 degrees when we got to the parking lot at 8:00AM. It was 44 degrees when we got back to load up at noon! Glad we went early. The snow was getting soft on our ride back. Sure hope winter comes back soon!

Yeah, that's Moon "Mountain". It's not really a mountain but that's what it's named. We always start our day by going there and doing some high marks up the side. We are usually alone when we get there but it's fun when a couple other people are there climbing it.

Climbing it is easy. Going down makes me a little nervous at times depending on the snow conditions. A friend of mine saw a rider make his turn too slowly at the top and his sled was in a hundred pieces when it finally came to a stop at the bottom of the hill. You have to power through the turn and get pointed downhill quickly!
