Minnesota trails
Hi, everyone. I'm planning a trip to Lake Vermilion Mn. in ten days. Was wondering if anyone had some advise on the trail conditions up there. Thanks all.

The lake is nice but the trails suck. They groomed the trails but there are rocks showing. I nailed a couple rocks the other day. I wont be riding them till we get more snow.

Thanks for the heads up. How about the trails up toward Crane Lake and farther north, are they in the same condition?

Thank you so much, You're a help! I'll try and look something up, up there. The trail reports on line, just don't seem to be up to date. So any little help you gave was better than nothing.
Thanks again!!

Bad. Those are my old stompin' grounds. Still have family up there. They haven't had snow in a long time. Less than us in NW WI. And I'm done riding here until more falls. There may be some on the lake to ride on. You may want to head to the UP instead and stay north of hwy 28 from what I'm hearing.... They're talking snow over there Friday. You'll run into lots of sleds, however.....
You may find more around Crane Lake, but they may be marginal. Try calling HANDBERG MARINE INC Crane Lake, MN (218) 993-2214. they're on Crane Lake. They have a webcam too providing it's up to date. I believe you can find a webcam for Vermilion too, just a matter of finding a site that carries it. Maybe they will give you an honest answer since they're not a motel looking for business. I bought a boat from them a few years ago. Just ask them to be straight up with you.........

Doesn't look good for this year, any way you look at it...
Supposed to be near 60 today down in the cities area. Really disappointing.

What part of "northern, MN" are you? I don't see any snow forecasted, and I live in the far north of Minnesota.

Nice hope we get some snow before Christmas that would suck if we didn't have any and with this warm weather who knows when the lake will be frozen and like 60% of my ridding is on rainy lake and kabtogama

Lucky. Looks like TRF might get an inch, maybe 2. I'm down in the cities right now, was helmet shopping when picking up studs... they don't size helmets as large as they used to. My old CKX helmet is 3xl... now a 5XL is too small! That's the largest helmet that I could find too! My head didn't grow, because I still fit in the 3xl helmet that I'm trying to replace.

Same here I have a old 3x hjc (I think) that fits good but I'm looking for a moto/snowcross helmet. I'm going to go try some 509 helmets on tommorow at upnorthsports in Bemidji but the largest size they make is a 2x hoping it will be big enough

Happy thanksgiving to you too. If you know something about trails that I don't (and I don't know a thing about the trails in TRF), please share! I am next door to Arctic, and I still have no idea where you can ride. I typically get a response "dude, it's where CAN'T you ride?!?"
Edit - Each day I read this thread and see that image I posted, the snow is getting less and less. Good to know the image at least updates automatically here! Snow is heavily receding in North Dakota.
