Greeway trail in Ashtabula Ohio

Has anyone been on the trail? how is it? Do you think there will be enough snow to ride next weekend? By the way what exit do you get off if you are traveling east on 90?

Thanks

the trail's nice. you'll be able to ride it, but i dont know the answer to the last Q.

the trail is a little boring after riding it so many times...it's just a straight shot, pretty much but a nice trail

Skidoo magoo. thanks for your response you and I were sending Emails last year. I know the trail is a straight shot but at least I get to be with other guys and girls on sleds. Most likly I will go on Sunday. I hope the weather stays cold. How much snow is up there? I probably have about 8 inches in peninsula Ohio.

not sure how much fell, because i was in canada, but we got hammered here! we drove over it, and there's plenty of snow to ride.

i know it is supposed to warm up a bit, but i dont know if it will do any damage to the trail. like i said, we got hammered here. it is a fun trail, and when we're up that way we ride it. great place to take someone new to the sport and getting used to a major traiil system, because it's easy riding and they can get the basics of riding in traffic down.

,aybe we'll pass each other this weekend...i might be going out there too!

Wintertoy......you want to exit 90 E. at RT 45 . It's the Austinburg exit, go south to Lampson Rd. It's 2 main road crossings south of 90 ( about 2 miles) Turn left (east) on lampson rd. and you wil find the parking area driveway is on the south east side of the trail.( about 3/4 of a mile east of RT 45.) It's sorta hidden, but go slow and you'll be fine. The driveway will be on your right just past the trail crossing.
As of Monday night , there is plenty of snow. There are some rough areas along the trail but it's being groomed as I type. If the weather holds out you should be able to ride sunday . I'll hopefully be out before now and then, so I'll update this if necessary. Have fun , and be carefull. I heard a Guy ran a stop sign on the trail Saturday night and hit a car.

i heard something about a sort of event going on there. i think it's like a fundraiser, maybe. where you show up with LEGAL sleds with no loud pipes, and ride down for something.

dunno if that's this weekend, or if they had it, but ill try to get some more info on it.

The Grand River Trail Riders are hosting a ride for the state Officials to try the sport of snowmobiling this weekend. I think it's saturday. It's for a good cause.....like keeping snowmobiling alive in Ohio. All of the sleds will be lent out to ride, and gear will be provided for them. If You plan on riding during the event, please be on your best behavior. The las thing we want is some jerk screaming past a group of state officials , dusting their shields , and their position towards our sport!!
Wintertoy, we'll see how the weather goes, Sunday is looking like a high of 39....and after all the traffic, we may see some possible trail closings. Let's play it by ear. What time would you be hitting the trail?? I don't get out to early, but If I have a guess, I may meet yah at the parking area.
*edit* The VIP ride is on sunday 11:00a to 3:00p. I'll be out saturday evening for a while, and sunday for the vip ride. You have a Yamaha 2-up ..Right?? I'll look for yah. I have the 2 polaris' ...but you would most likely find me @ Bucks Grille on Clay st. during the day sunday. Just look for a guy wandering around trying to find something to do.

Mudflap 64, I guess I missed you. we loaded up around 4:30. We had some nice riding. I finally made it down to paradise bay and had a few. The trails were nice but I wish there were some more sleds at the bars/ restaurants. Its more fun when you pull into a place and there are sleds all in a row.

Yeah, I guess so. We passed the parking area around 5, so you were gone already. I looked for the 2-up Yamaha the most, but obviously I did'nt see yah.
We hit Bucks, GR Manor, Virante Winery....Just to ride through the vineyards....THATS A BLAST. We went from there , back through the vineyards to the GR Manor to warm up, then hit Rock Creek ( Paradise Bay ). One guy in our group crashed down there pretty bad so we hung out for a while to help him to calm down. He found a BIG concrete manhole type of deal right in the middle of a bunch of tracks where everyone else that rode there missed it. Being new to snowmobiling , he did'nt have a chance to avoid it and turned a descent 96 Yamaha into a donor sled. We rode back up to Austinburg with the crippled sled and Went for the truck. It was a nice ride until the crash...but it was a long nite by the time we got the sled picked up and back home. We did'nt get to sleep until almost 4am and got up @ 8am, so we could help out with the VIP ride Sunday morning. I'm supposed to be in NY Next week, 8 days, but the weather is'nt looking to promising , High pressure abroad with LOTS of sun.
I hope to find yah a little earlier next time man, we'll definately meet up.
Be safe, and enjoy the snow while it's here.
BTW, The Greenway is Closed again until we get more snow. What a STRANGE winter this has been so far. WTF
