That's pretty much what I was thinking, spent most of this morning doing web searches, found Two Harbors area getting filled up as far as rooms, but I did find us a room at Silver Bay, which looks to have a good trail system in the area, and the Americaninn we will stay at has direct trail access. Snow conditions look to be great up there, will be heading up Wed. morning and coming back Saturday, can't wait to ride some trails on some REAL SNOW !!!!!

When you locals gonna show me around the N. Shore! Back when I was a kid, we had a cabin at Harriet Lake! Grampa was a miner in Ely. Remember Saw Bill Landing or Crooked Lake Resort. Lot's of Hakala's up their.

Its getting close to 40 degrees in Duluth! From the looks of things... it appears that riding will be best on the Trails north of Two Harbors. I wouldn't bother riding anywhere south of Duluth. Riding should still be okay Two Harbors and north til the end of the week.

Just got back from 3 days at Silver Bay, for the most part, riding was great !!, near town and the highways, where the snow isn't protected by trees, had to skip some mud, but get a few miles into the woods, and it was like a different world, snow in places up to your waist ( stay on the trail, VERY soft and wet !!!) trails were packed and traction was fine, towards the end, when more sleds showed up, it started getting rougher, talked to riders from Grand Marias, like where I was, the trails by the roads were slop, but into the woods was still in great condition, we did a 90 mile loop from Silver Bay our last day and had a blast, I did get stuck bad once, slid around a corner and buried one side, only had one ski sticking out, it was that deep ! I was in up to my waist pushing while my son pulled, finally gassed it on its side and managed to power out, after that, I took it a lot easier, the wet snow really lets you slide a lot in the corners. By midday, some hills had rivers of slush and bare patches, but if you were deeper into the woods, you would swear it was January instead of almost April, except for the sweating from the temperatures !!!

Hey Stimpy! Glad you guys had good riding.

At this time I would like to report that riding in the Duluth area is done. 45 degrees and sunny and the snow is melting away like crazy.

Not sure if there may be some riding left in far reaches of northeast MN, but riding anywhere within 30 miles of Duluth looks bad after today. Goodbye winter. Hello spring.

Duluth received about 8 inches of fresh snow in the last couple days. I have not been there recently, but my brother has rumored incredible riding conditions.

Apparently he said some areas may have received up to 2 feet with drifts close to 4-5 feet in windblown areas.

Riding reported as very good.

That's just what I want to hear, Cobra,my son and I are planning a trip for Spring Break to Silver Bay. Got new front shocks and an M10 on my sled just begging for a good long ride, and my son's 440 XCR has a fresh motor that needs a good break in on some long trails !!! Getting pretty tired of the pitiful snow conditions around our house, riding up and down the same field rows is getting pretty boring !! Thanks for the update, keep them coming if there are any changes.

I don't know for sure about conditions at Silver Bay, but I would assume it is good as well. Have a great trip!
