Midland Penetang Ontario JAN24 09

Serious accident in Midland harbour this morning. People were parked in their cars having morning coffee at a local spot which overlooks Midlands harbour. They witnessed a snowmobiler travelling at high speeds across the bay and then "SLAM"!!! He managed to drive himself into the frozen ice breaker trails "chunk ice". He was tossed from his sled and the sled rollled and rolled and so did he.
I am hearing this from eyewitnesses whom said that help arrived about forty five minutes later. No word on his condition or who he was as of yet! I live near there and I did see the air ambulance fly into town around that time so who knows!!
REMEMBER people that the ice breaker has just left our harbour a few weeks ago and has left a frozen chunky trail that when hit will leave marks on you or worse!!

Snowmobiler Injured on Ice

A man was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after he hit a pressure crack on Georgian Bay with his snowmobile. The unidentified man broke both legs and suffered numerous other injuries. Rescue crews say ice conditions are constantly changing. The OPP says its also worried about an increase in snowmobile fatalities in Ontario so far this season.

My talks with eyewitnesses say the man actually hit the frozen remnants of ice left over from the ice breaker leaving the harbour a few weeks back. The above text was copied from a local news site.

Hey Evilice, how are ya? I just got back from Madawaska and the trails couldn't be better, but I think your going to hear about a lot more sleddin accidents because of locals with their alcohol problems and weekend stupids chasing each other, going waaaay to fast ( I have an MXZ 800, I know FAST) and coming to blind corners on the wrong side with no regard for you or themselves. As these problems seem to be getting out of hand, we will see the long arm of the law come down on all of us and use any excuse to inflict new rules, costs, fines, police patrol ect.,generally putting a damper on my sleddin fun. I guess thats the price we pay for the growing sled industry. By the way, I did notice a lot more cops (got stopped and checked 3 times)
